**KHALED'S BIOGRAPHY**:-



Khaled Hadj-Brahim was born in Sidi El-Houari near the Algerian town Oran (Wahran) on February 29th in 1960. When he was nine he already sang at weddings, birthdays and other family events. His first song "trigue lyce" (means: "on my way to school") has been recorded when he was at the age of 14. There he sings, plays violine, flute, bongos, saxophone and accordion. The record turned a success and Oran discovered the young (Cheb = young) Khaled.
As a RAi musician he became an acclaimed star. His first concerts in Paris in 1985 made the Algerian emigrants' heart beat faster. The single "Didi" took him as the first Arabian into the Top 50,and (didi)mean (give him). This success was topped in 1997 by his album "Sahra" and the seperately released (well-known) single "Aicha". Since then Khaled has broadened the traditional Algerian Rai music by influence of Reggae, Funk, Flamenco, Calypso and Rap. His CD "Sahra" is the best example for this universal Rai-fusion.

On September 26th in 1998 took the legendary Rai-concert "1, 2, 3 soleils" in Paris place with Khaled, Faudel and Rachid Taha.
Khaled has become a hero for a whole generation of algerian and he still the voice of a whole generation.cheb khaled made alot of duets with foreighn singers like(noa(imagine)-amar(el harba wine)...and he also made alot of duets with arab singers like(amr diab(qalby)...and cetainly with algerian singers like(cheba zahonia-rachid taha-faudel-cheb ider-safe botela)..khaled try to develop his music more and more and he success all time...

**didi album in (1991)**

In 1992 he had his great international breakthrough with the single Didi, and the album Khaled. At this point he had removed "Cheb" from his artist name.by this album khaled become one of the greatest singers in france and europe.

**n'ssi n'ssi album in (1993)**


The best on this album is, I think, where he plays "Oriental Strings", recorded in Cairo - for example "Les Ailes". Khaled's voice rings powerfully against the strings and the music wells up toward an accordion that also plays in the background. Pretty. There is also a lot of good saxophone by David McMurray that, in a strange manner, complements Khaled's voice. Khaled has quite simply managed to unite old musical traditions and modern studio techniques without losing their souls.

in this album khaled made great songs...but i think the best songs in this album(wahran)and (oran mercille)becouse he sang it very very good .u can feel how khaled's voice is great in this album..

**1,2,3soleils album(1999)**




Filmed in September 1998, this concert took place in front of 18,000 fans at the Bercy Arena in Paris. The subsequent release of the album "1,2,3 Soleils" resulted in over 2 million record sales, the biggest selling release for an Arab album in Western Europe. The influence of this Rai-based music had clearly spread beyond its traditional ethnic audience, a fact bolstered by the release of Sting's "Desert Rose," a song he claims was inspired by the Paris concert. With a wide array of musical guests, and a 40 piece orchestra, this phenomenal performance is a landmark in the history of Arabian influenced music.


**kenza album (2000)**

is just what I feel. I love his collaboration with the Indian, Amar, on the witty "El Harba Wine"; I get a lump in my throat when Khaled, takes up "Aalach Tloumouni"; the rai traditionalist in me rejoices around the floor at the accordion tones and string orchestra on the loveable "Melha".khaled also made in this album one of the greatest songs in his life(c'est la nuit)and he successed to make another great song in (aicha)style..

this is cheb khaled's newest album ..he released it in 30 august 2004..in this album i think khaled try to find himself again...i think this album is the best album he made..in this album khaled made covers for two of the all time classics ( El hamam) By Hadj Mohammed El anka, and(Hmama) by Houari who appears in this album...and he also made a remix to(el hamam)by immotep....this album begins with just a piano which sounds like 18th Century European classical but gradually takes on a more Arabic sound before being joined by everything else in (mani hani). A very effective start I thought...i think the best songs in this album ya rayi /ensa elham/el hamam/hamama...also i think khaled try in this album to make his arabic more easy to make all arabian know and understand what he said...this is great album.
